Life is busy, busy….actually my work is so very busy! I have only made it home before 9:00pm once this week. Tonight I have to work late again, but should be home by 7:00 this evening. I hope!
I have been really slacking on my household routines this week so I will have to get caught up on all that this weekend. I am feeling swamped so I will need to make a list.
On the good side of things, Erik saw the psychiatrist for the first time. She is far more knowledgable about the medication he is on than who is currently prescribing his meds. We found out that the med he is on now actually can cause anxiety which is the problem he has been having and he didn’t have these issues when he was taking the concerta the med before the one he is currently on. I am hopeful that this Dr has the level of expertize to correctly assist Erik, but who knows it is always trial and error isn’t it! She also was the first one to pick up on Erik having a processing problem without me having to tell them. So that is a plus as well. So Erik’s medication will now be monitored and prescribed by a psychiatrist, which I am very happy about. He does not have a simple case of ADHD, his condition is more complex than that and now we hopefully will have someone that have the level of experience needed to help him. I am optimistic, but guarded because it always seems at some point everyone says , yep…definitely something wrong with Erik, but we can’t help you any more. Actually this Dr. worked with one of my own more difficult clients with some good results, but he had a different diagnosis. I am not sure what her area of expertise actually is.
The other good news is that with the flu shot shortage I was worried I would not be able to get my shot this year. I am at high risk due to my asthma and related hospitalization. My work cancelled their employee flu shot clinic, so I called my Dr. I am able to get a flu shot from my Dr so I will be ok. My clinic is only giving shots to those in high risk categories like myself. I will not be able to get shots this year for my children or hubby. I usually get them shots too more to protect myself than them.

That’s great you found a good Dr for Erik. What does he take now? Kira still takes Concerta, but also has Paxil for anxiety and Clonidine to calm down at bedtime. It is such a trial an error to find the right combo though.
