In the summer I try to leave my office for a walk or lunch in the park at least once a week. I just have not made time for these types of breaks this summer. I rarely even leave my desk for lunch. I work through lunch so I can get home to my family and my responsibilities there. Starting to feel like I am racing through life. Do you ever feel like that?
Today, I am taking a lunch break. I had about 40 minutes between home visits. I zipped through the drive thru for some not so healthy lunch and drove to a nearby park. A small, quiet park tucked away in a residential area of W St Paul.
Those who know me, know I am an introvert. I love being around people, but it takes a lot of energy to be on, so to speak. In my employment, I talk to people all day. So going out for lunch with friends does not renew my energy, but 30 minutes in the park does me a world of good. Beautiful green trees, bees buzzing from flower to flower, a gentle breeze rustle the leaves…….all pure heaven. And of course having a few minutes to do something I enjoy, like blogging makes it all the better.
A reminder to you and me: busy moms, caregivers and employees….don’t forget to take a moment for yourself. Take time to enjoy the simple pleasures in life, that we tend to take for granted. What a difference these 30 minutes has made…….I am leaving the park with renewed energy.
My thoughts from the park…….let’s hope I follow my own advice and you see more posts from the park before this wonderfully warm weather leaves Minnesota. Hope you found time to enjoy the day and renew your energy!
